G’day!
I’m Sheridan, but you can call me Shez. Infact, I insist.
And yes, my last name is New. This isn’t a new template.
With the pleasentries out the way,
I’d like to give you a lukewarm welcome to my portfolio!
With a journalism and marketing degree in toe (and acruing an eye-watering amount of interest by the day),
I started my career at a small marketing agency, Magnetize, in Perth, Western Australia.
In 2019, I precured a British passport thanks to pops (have never called him that),
and made my way over to London (Clapham), trading consistent sun exposure for greater copywriting opportunities.
I got the first job I interviewed for: a Content Writer for Chip, a fintech startup based out of Shoreditch.
We were a team of 30 based out of an office above a vape shop.
The marketing team was comprised of three people,
so I quickly learned how to do just about everything expect make a decent cup of tea.
In 2021, I was promoted to Content Manager, another first-time role.
By then, I was doing a lot more than writing, and a lot more project management, so this title felt apt.
In 2024, I met my current and final form: Brand Content Lead.
Feels like it’s a bit of an SEO-friendly job title where they’ve smashed a bunch of key words together to cover all bases.
Through my career, I realisde what I loved about writing was storytelling; making the viewer/reader feel something. My default’s humour, but ultimately what I love about content as an art form is making people feel seen; like they can relate.
